How to use Repair PDF
- 1Choose the damaged PDF.
- 2Select Repair PDF. The file’s objects are scanned and the document is rebuilt with a new cross-reference table.
- 3If that fails, try recovering the readable pages as images, then download the result and check every page.
Good to know
- Repair is best effort. Broken cross-reference tables and damaged trailers can often be fixed; truncated or overwritten content usually can’t be recovered.
- The image fallback keeps how pages look, but their text is no longer selectable.
- Password-protected files must be unlocked first.
Supported files
- Input
- A damaged PDF, up to 150 MB
- Output
- A rebuilt PDF, or the readable pages as an image-based PDF
Processing happens on your device, so very large files depend on its memory. Free, with no sign-up or watermark.
What people use it for
- Open a PDF that viewers say is damaged
- Recover pages from an interrupted download
- Rescue what’s readable from a corrupt attachment

No. Broken cross-reference tables and damaged trailers can often be fixed. Truncated or overwritten content usually can’t be recovered, because the data is no longer in the file.
If rebuilding fails, it renders every page that can still be read into a new PDF. The pages look the same, but their text is no longer selectable; OCR PDF can make it searchable again.
